Original Description

Spicular nassellarians with three-bladed apical, dorsal and primary lateral spines arising from a short median bar. Apical spine with one or more verticils of three branches, dorsal and primary lateral spines with only two branches in each verticil. First verticil of spines interconnected by arches and, except that of the dorsal spine, extended into verticillate three-bladed spines.

Etymology:
The genus is named for Dr. Jean-Pierre Caulet (Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris) to honor his valuable contributions to the knowledge of Cenozoic radiolarians.
