Original Description Shell large, divided by a median vertical stricture into two equal hemispheres separated by a sharp V-shaped groove across coryphal face, whole shell 1.55 height in greatest transverse diameter; great-circle a strong, prismatic hoop; pores mostly large, subelliptical, 16 (large) pores in each lobe, and, additionally, one to four odd, tiny, circular pores which are mainly coryphocaudal, large pores arranged in three crudely subvertical and transverse rows, pores in nearly exact duplicate on two hemispheres and not crossing great-circle; framework coarse, thick, and clumsy, with round bars, a few of which (ventrolateral) have spikelets on side facing contained pore; feet five (?), one caudal, remainder tergal and pectoral (all save caudal incomplete in our specimen, and only bases present), caudal (and one of incomplete tergals) thin, needle-shaped, apically sharp, round, and with tiny thorns along both sides of proximal 0.5, feet, at least caudal, as long as shell, divergent, straight; interspaces between feet low arches; basal plate with three (?) petal-like pores. Size: Diameter, maximum, 120µm. Extra details from original publication Distinguishing characters:Status of Pentaspyris papillosa n. sp. doubtful and cannot be correctly compared with others of this recent genus.
