Catalog entries: Lithocampe modeloensis

Original description: Shell fairly robust (approximately twice its maximum diameter in length); cephalis subhemispherical (70°) with blunted, subangled apex, rounded sides and with a length about same as basal diameter, surface irregular; shell-joints unequal, three, uppermost one (30°) shortest (0.22 total length in length), with bulged sides, and with base wider than upper diameter, middle joint longest (0.5 total length), with subequal upper and lower diameters, bulged sides, and whole shaped much liken mildly tapering (40°) barrel, third joint shorter than first one, subcylindrical, with inturned, horizontal free edge (diameter 0.24 total length) without teeth; wall rather thin and even thinner in subcylindrical section; pores of cephalis and upper joint alike, tiny, subcircular, well spaced, scattered, about 44, pores of shell-joints in five subequidistant (save last which is closer to fourth than others) transverse rows of 16-20 pores in a row, circular (save in last row just above aperture where they are rectangles), subequal (save in last row where there are smaller ones), larger than in upper part of shell; surface with about 16 or more sinuous, simple or bifurcated, subvertical ribs.

Length, total, 90µm; diameter of aperture, 23µm, of pores, 2.2µm. Distinguishing characters (rw): Lithocampe modeloensis n. sp. smaller than marylandica (Martin, 1904), has fewer pore rows, more contracted aperture, and joints are less smooth than in last species, although more like those of former.
Remarks on original description: [Campbell and Clark here list the species under the subgeneric name Lithocampium and include the subgeneric name in the species name.
New name Lithomitra modeloensis (Campbell and Clark) Petrushevskaya 1975c]
