Original Description

4b. Tribus: Spongotrochida. Spongodiscida aculeata (sed non brachiata) cum aculeis marginalibus in plano disci sitis.
A. aculeis duobus oppositis.

Translation:
4b. Tribe: Spongotrochida. Spined Spongodiscida (but not armed) with marginal spines situated in the plane of the disk.
A. With two opposite spines. (Translated from Latin by E.M.R. and W.R.R.)]

Etymology:
Greek spongolonche = spongy disk with spontoons"
