Original Description

Shell globular with four, equal, three-sided prismatic, crossed spines, dividing the shell into quadrants, the spines about as long as the diameter of the globe, these spines with minute denticles and spiral edges near the bases, the remainder of the spine being like a fine rod; shell spherical, everywhere spongy, the edges with spicule-like projections and irregular.

Size:
Length of spines, 210µm; diameter of spongy shell 200µm.

Distinguishing characters: Staurodoras eocenica n. sp. has spines shorter than S. spongosphaera Haeckel (1887) and longer than those of the Liassic S. liassica Dunikowski (1882).
