Editors' Notes
Dreyer's definition is for ellipsoidal multiple concentric shelled spumellarians with two axial pylomes.  The only two species illustrated by him - dinoceras and amphistoma - however do not both show dual pylomes.  S. dinoceras is most likely Actinomma leptoderma longispina, which has no true pylomes at all and only an opening on one side of the cortical shell.  The concept of Stomatosphaera thus seems inconsistent and best not used. - dl
