Pseudoemiliania ovata

Classification: ntax_main -> Isochrysidales -> Noelaerhabdaceae -> Pseudoemiliania -> Pseudoemiliania ovata
Sister taxa: P. lacunosa, P. ovata, P. sp.

Taxonomy:
Citation: Pseudoemiliania ovata (Bukry 1973) Young 1998
Taxonomic rank: species
Basionym: Emiliania ovata * Bukry 1973
Taxonomic discussion: P. ovata and P. lacunosa intergrade, and many workers do not distinguish them. See Young (1990) for extended discussion of the relationship between lacunosa and ovata. There is continuous variation within the group and if it is thought useful to subdivide them further, then it would probably be most practical to simply do this by using size /shape classes without assigning names - as has been done by for instance Matsuoka & Okada (1989).
(De Kaenel et al. 1999 subdivided Pseudoemliania specimens by length at 4 and 6.5 µm)
