Prinsiosphaera triassica subsp. crenulata

Classification: ntax_mesozoic -> Mesozoic non–coccoliths -> Prinsiosphaera -> Prinsiosphaera triassica -> Prinsiosphaera triassica subsp. crenulata
Sister taxa: P. triassica subsp. crenulata

Distinguishing features:
Parent taxon (Prinsiosphaera triassica): Medium to large spherical solid nannolith formed from stacked groups of calcite plates.
This taxon: In LM appears to be formed of crenulate layers.

Taxonomy:

Citation: Prinsiosphaera triassica subsp. crenulata Jafar 1983
Taxonomic rank: sub-species
Taxonomic discussion: Considered an intraspecific variant of P. traissica by Bralower et al. (1991) but it is regarded as a distinct form by Rutledge et al. (2015) and R. Howe (pers comm. 2020). It probably should be recombined as a species. [my interpretation - JRY 2020]
