1887 Lophophaena (Lophophaenoma) circumtexta n. sp. Haeckel p. 1304
Catalog entries: Lophophaena circumtexta
Original description: Shell with slight collar stricture. Length of the two joints = 4: 5, breadth = 4: 5. Cephalis subglobular, with numerous conical, radial spines, about as long as its diameter, and at equal distances from the surface, connected by anastomosing branches. Thorax nearly cylindrical, smooth, little dilated towards the truncate, wide open mouth. Pores subregular, circular.
Cephalis 40µm long, 40µm broad; thorax 50µm long, 50µm broad.
Remarks on original description: There was no illustration of this species in Haeckel (1887)
Haeckel listed Lophophaena circumtexta under the subgeneric name Lophophaenoma, but did not include the subgeneric name in the species name.
Equivalent to Lophophaena radians var, Ehrenberg, 1875, pl.8, figs.7-8 only
