Original description: sphaera ovato-oblonga laevis, nucleo medio nebuloso, poris parvis discretis irregulariter notata, nucleus incertus, utroque fine obtuse aculeato. Aculei duo oppositi, unus parvus crassior apice conicus, alter longior attenuatus.
Translated description: [Sphere ovate-oblong, smooth; with an indistinct median nucleus; distinguished by small, well separated, irregular pores; nucleus uncertain; with each end obtusely spined. Two opposite spines, one small, thicker, conical at the apex, the other longer, thin.  (Translated from Latin by E.M.R. and W.R.R.)]
