Original Description

Test free, trochoid, low spired. quadrate in side view; chambers inflated, four in last vvhorl; sutures depressed; series of small rounded apertures along sutures in adult.

Size:
Maximum diameter 0.20 mm., thickness 0.16 n1m.

Remarks. - The quadrate shape of this species sets it apart from other Candeina species, which are generally trigonal in form.

Occurs in the Miradorian Stage (upper Oligocene to lower Miocene) and the lower part of the Gaviotian Stage (Miocene). Also occurs in older sediments, such occurrences are presumed to be contaminants.

This species is now regarded as benthic and is placed in the genus Antarcticella, see Malumian et al. 2010 [editor's comment - JRY 2018]
