Current identification/main database link: Favusella washitensis (Carsey, 1926)
Original Description
Extra details from original publication
Variation of the species. Favusella confusa n. sp. is abundant in the material studied, and more than 100 specimens were observed. This species displays little morphologic variation. The test shows a low trochospire and the last chambers always comprise one half of the total diameter of the test.
Remarks. Favusella confusa was confused with Favusella washitensis by Plummer (1931, pI. 31, figs. 12a-b). However, the study of topotypic material and close comparison with the type figure by D. O. Carsey (1926) allowed the senior author to clarify the taxonomic status of both species. Favusella confusa basically differs from F. washitensis by its ultimate chamber which comprises one half of the total diameter of the test. This characteristic basically separates Favusella confusa from other species of Favusella.
Range. Upper Ticinella breggiensis Zone (upper Albian) to lower Thalmanninella evoluta Zone (lower Cenomanian).
Occurrence. Favusella confusa has been reported from the Grayson Formation of Texas (USA) by Plummer (1931) as Globigerina washitensis Carsey and by Longoria (1974) from the same locality as Favusella sp.
