Type age (chronostrat): Recent
Type locality: Station 4 (1935), in the Greenland Sea; lat. 76°21' N., long. 358°37 ' E.; depth 3000 m. Occurs in several deep-water stations in the Greenland Sea (2300- 2200 m. ).
Type repository: Depository not given. [Possibly deposited in the collections of the Arctic Scientific Research Institute, or in the Zoological Museum of the Academy of Sciences of the U.S.S.R., Leningrad.

Original Description

Translation from the Russian: Test rounded, with a lobate peripheral margin, not high in the dorso-ventral direction. On the dorsal s ide there are 2-1/2 to 3 distinct, inflated spiral whorls, consisting of easily distinguishable hemispherical chambers. Septal and spiral sutures distinct, strongly depressed. On the ventral side there are 5 highly inflated spherical chambers, gradually increasing in size. Septal sutures on the ventral side also very distinct and strongly depressed. Wall thin, rough . Apertural opening in the central part of the ventral side, covered by a usually well devel oped, thin, triangular plate which is a continuation of the basal part of the last chamber.
