Original Description Test biconvex, usually equally so, but the dorsal side may be more convex, although it is only rarely less convex; the periphery sharp, keeled, lobulate; chambers flush dorsally, depressed ventrally, all visible dorsally, only final whorl of four to five visible ventrally; sutures distinct, curved almost oblique, limbate and flush dorsally, ventrally straight, radial, depressed; entire surface of test covered with short papillae ; aperture a slit at base of final chamber next to umbilicus, with a lip. Extra details from original publication Twenty-four individuals representing all growh stages are present. This species differs from Globorotalia marginaculeata Loeblich and Tappan in having curved chambers, and in having the chambers covered by short papillae. This species also differs from Globorotalia derioensis Plummer in having a smaller aperture and short papillae over the entire test. It differs from Globorotalia spinulosa Cushman in having the dorsal sutures more curved, spines not restricted to early part but present over whole test, and in having a smaller, less conspicuous aperture. It has a more compressed test, a very sharp, keeled periphery, and more strongly curved sutures than Globorotalia crassata (Cushman). thats deliberate - because it is a junior homonym of G. californica Cushman and Todd 1948 in my system I need names to be unique so this is the system I use to handle junior homonyms
