Schale flachgedrückt kugelig. Sagittaleinschnürung oben und unten nur flach markiert, Krageneinschnürung am Übergange vom Kopf zum Thorax gleichfalls flach. Neben dem runden Sagittalringe liegen auf der dorsalen und ventralen Seite je zwei Paare großer rundlicher Poren, von denen die untersten die größten sind, dreimal so groß als die oberen. Über dem Ringe, der nicht ganz bis in die apikale Schalenwand hineinreicht, liegt auf der dorsalen und ventralen Seite je eine große unpaarige Pore, wodurch der Anschein erweckt wird, als ob eine Kuppel auf dem bilocularen Köpfchen säße. Links und rechts von diesen großen paarigen Poren am Ringe finden sich dann etwa 12 bis 20 unregelmäßig rundliche kleinere Poren auf beiden Schalenhälften, der ventralen und der dorsalen. Am Sagittalring entspringen, in unserer Figur mit zwei kräftigen Bögen nach vorn ziehend, die beiden Lateralstacheln Lr und Ll, die als kurze, dreikantige, unregelmäßige Anhänge vom Schalenrande schräg nach unten zeigen. In der Sagittalebene sieht man den ebenso gestalteten Dorsalstachel und, mit kräftigen Bögen an ihm beginnend, die Lateralstacheln lr, ll, von derselben Form und Größe wie die früheren Stacheln. An den Spitzen dieser fünf Basalfüße beginnt an kleinen Zähnchen ein erst in der Anlage begriffenes zierliches, strichdünnes Gitterwerk, welches sich auch am Basalringe befestigt und die Schale zwischen den Basalfüßen sowohl seitlich wie auch nach unten hin abzuschließen versucht.

Shell flattened spherical. Sagittal constriction marked only flat at the top and bottom, collar constriction at the transition from cephalis to thorax also flat. In addition to the round sagittal ring, there are two pairs of large round pores on the dorsal and ventral sides, of which the lowest ones are the largest, three times as large as the upper ones. Above the ring, which does not quite extend into the apical wall of the shell, there is a large unpaired pore on the dorsal and ventral sides, which gives the appearance of a dome sitting on the bilocular cephalis. To the left and right of these large paired pores on the ring there are around 12 to 20 irregularly rounded smaller pores on both halves of the shell, the ventral and the dorsal. In our figure, the two lateral spines Lr and Ll arise from the sagittal ring, extending forward with two strong arcs, which point diagonally downwards from the edge of the shell as short, triangular, irregular appendages. In the sagittal plane you can see the dorsal spine, which has the same design, and, starting from it with strong arches, the lateral spines lr, ll, of the same shape and size as the earlier spines. At the tips of these five basal feet, a delicate, line-thin latticework begins on small teeth that is just beginning to form, which is also attached to the basal ring and tries to close the shell between the basal feet both laterally and downwards. Da der Ring nicht bis in die obere, apikale Schalenwand hineinreicht und die kräftigen Bögen, die von ihm im apikalen Teil nach links und rechts ziehen, noch durch einen Kieselfaden verbunden werden, welcher sich über die obere sagittale Furche hinwegzieht, so könnte man in diesem Falle von einer, wenn auch sehr einfachen Kuppel sprechen, die nach der dorsalen und ventralen Seite eine große Pore und eine sehr flachgedrückte Gestalt besäße. Dann hätte Phormospyris macropora sowohl Kuppel als Thorax und würde demnach zur Gattung Androspyris in der Familie der Androspyriden gehören. Sie würde aber da in eine Gesellschaft von Arten kommen, die ihrem ganzen Äußeren viel ferner stehen als die Phormospyris-Arten. Ich habe diesen einen Skelettfaden und die dadurch entstehenden Apikalporen nicht als Kuppel auffassen können und die Art daher bei den Phormospyriden belassen.

Since the ring does not extend into the upper, apical shell wall and the strong arches that extend from it in the apical part to the left and right are still connected by a silica thread, which extends over the upper sagittal groove, one could in this case speak of a dome, albeit a very simple one, which had a large pore on the dorsal and ventral sides and a very flattened shape. Then Phormospyris macropora would have both a dome and a thorax and would therefore belong to the genus Androspyris in the Androspyrid family. But it would come into a society of species that are much more distant from its appearance than the Phormospyris species. I was unable to interpret this one skeletal thread and the resulting apical pores as a dome and therefore left the species with the phormospyrids. [gt/dbl]
